True Photos of Commercial Foods

True Photos of Commercial Foods...

Have you ever bought a package of food and found that it didn't look anything like the picture on the package?  Or ordered a sandwich at a fast food joint based on the beautiful photo on the sign, only to find that the actual sandwich didn't look anything like the picture?  And you felt like you had been ripped off?  That happened to me tonight.  I bought a bag of Tyson Grilled & Ready Pulled Pork.  The photo on the package looks great.  Nice, lean white meat.  Once the bag was opened it was a whole different story.  I immediately thought that Tyson found a way to sell their scraps.  It was not nearly as good as the package led me to believe.  The picture shows it as white and lean, but in reality it is brown, tough and fatty.  It was not really "pulled" - it wasn't tender enough for that- but more like chopped.  Just going by appearance, it looked inedible.  The taste was pretty bad too.

This has happened in the past with other products, making me wonder how it can possibly be legal for companies to misrepresent their products so brazenly.  Tonight it occurred to me that there should be a place online to post these photos so others can see.

On the other hand, it is possible that a product looks just like the picture or better.  Doubtful, but it could theoretically happen.

So, if you have photos of the package or advertising and the actual product, e-mail them to truefoodphotos@gmail.com to be posted here.  (Tell me if you don't want your name used.)   Maybe we can save each other some hassle and disappointment while exposing the advertising claims of dishonest companies.
